The four walls we build up over bitter time, solidifies with contempt towards words such as trust, hope, and love. For every deceitful stab and arrow shot to our backs, we delve deep into awareness and learn valuable lessons about who we are as people. We learn that sometimes...even good people are not worth saving. Cos we will break hearts ourselves. Even acid rain cannot wash away our sins. Not because we are vile but because we are remorseful. We are not willing to believe youthful dreams can ever come true. We don't consider ourselves worthy.
That glint, that shimmer of aspiration is a narrow strip of light, that slightly blinds, only to briefly distract us from reality. It's not easy to love. It's alarming to feel safe. When a heart is damaged, we develop a numbness to the very prospect of what we always wanted to believe in.
Fragile and worn. It takes time. For it all to come back. Too feel...included. And when that time comes around to make that leap of faith...we burn the bridge to everything we left behind, and set on a path that only leads us forward. Where it takes us? Hopefully closer to understanding what it means to be human.
